About Me
I am a Chartered Accountant with over a decade hands on experience. I started my career in Nnamdi Oyeka & Co (Chartered Accountants) as a trainee. While there I was involved in the audit of firms in various sectors of the economy. I was also involved in the getting of clients Tax clearance certificate and attending to tax queries. My next port of call was Centre-Point Investment Limited during my youth service. This was the stock broking arm of the then Centre-Point Merchant Bank PLC. I was the branch accountant in this capacity I maintained the branch petty cash book, I rendered monthly reports to the head –office, I was involved in marketing and also attended to client’s issues. My next job was with Mannybank PLC. A publicly quoted bank now part of Fidelity Bank PLC. I started off as a Bank reconciliation Officer. In this capacity I reconciled the Bank’s account with local banks’, foreign banks and Central Bank on a monthly basis. I also wrote an investigative report on items outstanding in the reconciliation report. After this I was moved to the funds transfer desk, where I had responsibility for writing manager cheques. My next posting was to Financial Control as the Accounts Processing Officer. In that capacity I was the accounts payable officer. I had responsibility for VAT, withholding tax, Companies Income Tax and Personal Income Tax. In that capacity I prepared monthly schedules for the various taxes and remitted the ones that are due on monthly basis. I normally will prepare the documents used for filing of annual returns. I indeed co-ordinated tax audits for two years. I also maintained the banks amortization and prepaid schedule. My responsibility also extended to Fixed asset accounting, where among other things I had responsibility for preparing the schedule for audit and capital allowance purposes. I was involved in the automation of executive reports. I indeed co-ordinated statutory audits’ for the bank. In all of these duties I was never involved in fraud, payment of the various taxes was prompt, audit journals were reduced. My next job was with Airtel Nigeria Limited. I started off as a Management Accountant for Service Delivery. In that capacity I was part of the departmental executive staff. I was in charge of budgeting, management reports, accounts payables, liaising with procurement for the group’s purchases. I was also moved to the Sales department as Management Accountant with similar functions.
