Duties & Responsibilities:

· Coordinates the day to day operations of all ART laboratory services at the Comprehensives and PMTCT Services at the supported sites in Kaduna state.

· Coordinates laboratory support services related to HIV/AIDS/TB care and treatment including opportunistic infections (OIs) management

· Supervises laboratory quality assurance issues within the state.

· Coordinates the equipment fault updates with troubleshooting and inventory management and stock taking system of reagents, RTKs and general consumables at the facilities

· Remains informed on current programmes in the field of laboratory management of HIV/AIDS/TB and related development in the field by reviewing current literature and staying alert to any implication of such experience and research for department activities as outlined by the technical supervisor

· Coordinates the Proficiency Testing Programme (CD4, Haematology, and Clinical Chemistry) run by National External Quality Assessment Laboratory - NPTS – DIGITAL/AFRQUALAB Program.

2. Laboratory/Technical Officer with Family Health International (FHI)/Global HIV/AIDS Initiative Nigeria (GHAIN) at the Sokoto Zonal Office (Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states).

· Contributes to development of lessons learned from programmes and projects related to laboratory management of HIV/AIDS and TB, and liaise with senior colleagues to apply these lessons to modify existing programmes and improve the design of new programmes

· Remains informed on current programmes in the field of laboratory management of HIV/AIDS/TB and related development in the field by reviewing current literature and staying alert to any implication of such experience and research for department activities as outlined by the technical supervisor

· Coordinates the Proficiency Testing Programme (CD4, Haematology, and Clinical Chemistry) run by National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS), South Africa; and HIV serology run by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria

· Coordinates (in collaboration with facility Engineer) Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) and other evaluation duties within the zone e.g. injection and blood safety in the context of infection prevention and control.
