Completed the mandatory 1-year National Service within the period, Taught Mathematics, Chemistry and Basic Technology(Into-Tech), Was responsible for managing the classes and effective record keeping of all classroom activities.
Major projects handled include the following:
o Operation ‘Read’ which involved students reading newspapers and giving a summary of articles, also learning how to pronounce and know the meaning of about 200 words in a week, this really improved the students’ reading ability and academic skills.
o Introduced interclass competition and a gender based mentorship programme
o Co-ordinated the school’s first ever prize giving ceremony and symposium
o Organized a special Valentine’s Day Special as part of my community development(Personal CDS) pet project, Attitude Reformation and Leadership Training (ARLT)
Rose through the ranks from a subject teacher/class manager, HOD, Vice Principal and then Principal within two years (2005/06 – 2007/08). Was responsible for the day to day running of the establishment, Was in charge of the academic and moral wellbeing of about 200 students and 20 staff, Executed capital projects within and outside the school using financial management skills, Was the link man between the school and the public including other institutions e.g. banks etc, Ensured proper staff, examination, financial and events management.
o Under my tutelage, the school came fourth in the Annual Cowbell Mathematics Competition Senior Category.
o Stocking and equipping the school’s first and only multipurpose science laboratory with most needed apparatus
o Taught Mathematics, Chemistry and Further Mathematics all through my stay and presented students for their final exams(GCE, SSCE, UTME) in these subjects and others for four(4) years with superb results, most of these students are graduates and undergraduates now.
o Was able to manage the school’s high debt profile and went on to obtain a clean bill of health from our creditors (bank)
o Initiated, co-ordinated and organized the school’s Annual Career’s day and Valedictory Service, this went on through the years
