Deputy Group Business Editor, THE PUNCH
The PUNCH Newspapers Limited, Lagos, Nigeria.
July 2001 - Present Day (16 years 1 month)

Basically, I started out as a Business journalist--Writer/Reporter with The Guardian Newspapers, Lagos.

Before I left in 2001, I distinguished myself as a star writer and an innovative reporter. For instance, I designed and created a brand-trend two-page pull-out, called "Cutting-Edge." It suceeded in attracting advertisements and huge patronage for The Guardian. It was sustained for three years after my exit from the company.

At PUNCH, in conjunction with my Editor then, Mr. Azubuike Nzekewene, a Personal Finance page was designed. I ran it for three years on the Stable of SUBDAY PUNCH. When I moved to the Business Desk of THE PUNCH (Daily), I anchored the same Personal Finance series, tagged, Page 4 --Personal Finance, until Iwas promoted in 2010, and moved to the post of Sub-Assistant Editor to THE PUNCH Editor/ Deputy Group Business Editor, the post I currently occupy.

Besides, it is recorded that Imentored a number of correspondents, who were initially regarded as inefficient and bad writers, to become star writers.

At both Business Desks of THE PUNCH and THE GUARDIAN newspapers, Layi Adeloye is a name that any othe managers in the outfits can vounch for. Besides, the Business journalism world in Nigeria can speak of my exploits.
