Switchboard Operator

1.Attending to clients in person.

2.Communicating courteously with clients by telephone, email, letter and face to face.

3.Handling communication systems such as telephone and the switchboard.

4.Answer incoming calls, providing information, transferring calls and/or taking messages where necessary.

5.Place telephone calls or arrange conference calls as instructed.

6.Keep records of calls placed and calls received.

7.Stamp messages with time and date, and file them appropriately

8.Keeping accurate records of discussions or correspondence with clients.

9.Handling of the Monthly Health Informational Programme; this involved keeping all staff members abreast health wise with the monthly information of different topics. Topics such as cholesterol, hypertension, insomnia, hepatitis, depression and diabetes have been treated.

10.Human Resource duties: I assisted in the co-ordination of oral interviews between partners and candidates and I sometimes handle the introduction of new staff members to staff members. This involved little orientation and showing them round the building

11.Being a buddy to a new colleague: A buddy is someone who partners with a new employee during his/her first few months of employment. A buddy is a communicator, mentor, motivator and a strong performer. I carried out the responsibility of been a buddy to the new front desk officer/switch board operator.
