Design, implement, and maintain the organization’s data & voice communications infrastructure so as to achieve maximum network performance hence assured business-systems reliability and availability to the respective systems users and clients.
Monitor and Analyze usage, performance and security of Data Communications links and take appropriate action to maintain appropriate network security and high levels of data integrity where necessary.
Ensure there are adequate resources (Human and Financial), tools and utilities for effective management and monitoring of the LAN and WAN infrastructure to ensure a minimum 95 % network availability.
Negotiate, manage and review service level agreements with the Network Service providers to ensure there is adherence at all times.
Ensure there is comprehensive up-to-date documentation of Internetworking Policies, Processes, Procedures, Network topologies and Networking device configurations and ensure these are in compliance with international standards with the ISO-17799 at the minimum.
Preparation and safekeeping of installation and day-to-day administration manuals of Internet servers (e-mail, DNS, proxy etc) on Windows and platforms
Manage the performance of the Networking unit according to the organization’s set standard.
Provide for effective planning and implementation of Network Infrastructure projects to ensure project deadlines are met and project expenditure is within budget.
Provide, and constantly review, a Disaster Recovery Plan for all critical data communications links to ensure business continuity in the case of a major breakdown.
Ensure that all Network Infrastructure faults are correctly assigned, resolved and recorded in order to maintain service levels to the business and its customers.
Research, test and recommend data and voice communication solutions to the Business units.
