QIT GAS FLARE ELIMINATION PROJECT (STAGE 1)

Client: Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited.

Duties: Assisting in preparation of Process Engineering deliverables such as:

  • Hydraulic Calculation and Analysis on the;

 Fire Water System to ascertain that the minimum required pressure for the fire water at the farthest user point meets the requirements specified by ExxonMobil Global Practice.

 Instrument Air to determine the consumption rate and amount of pressure loss along the instrument air line from the tie-in to the farthest point of consumption, and ensure that this meets requirements.

 Diesel Fuel System to determine the pressure losses in the system and to ascertain adequate delivery of diesel fuel from the pumps, through the Filter and Coalsecer Separators, to the day tank.

 Line Sizing; Single phase liquid line sizing in accordance with API 14E and MPN Global Practice, to determine the size of the diesel line, the velocity of diesel flow, and pressure losses in the diesel fuel system pipe and fittings.

  • Equipment Sizing

 Filter/Coalescer Sizing for separation of mixtures of dirt, diesel and water in accordance with GPSA Engineering Data Book.

 Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) Sizing for prevention of overpressure on coalescer and filter separators in accordance with API 521.

 Tank Vent Design to determine Tank venting requirements in both normal and emergency cases in accordance with API 2000.

 Pump Sizing to ensure pump provides enough head for diesel supply to GTGs.

  • Performed Process Tie-in Procedures on the Diesel fuel supply system, Fire Water System, Instrument Air System, and Potable Water System.
  • Prepared Equipment List, Valve List and Line List.
  • Prepared Process Data Sheets; Valves Data sheets, Coalescers, Filters and PSV data sheets.
  • Development of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Utility Flow Diagrams (UFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for process systems.
  • Involved in 30% and 75% Hazard operability (HAZOP) review exercises to identify high risk hazards associated with the design process.
