Safety Advisor
Allied Inspection for ExxonMobil

  • Effective safety system installation prior to kick-off or mobilization at work sites and maintenance of such during the work phases.
  • Coordinates and inform Construction Lead/PMT of safety issues, status and metrics.
  • Ensure establishment and proper implementation of adequate control processes within the team as stipulated in the work and safety plan.
  • Evaluate and monitor implementation of contractor’s safety management systems.
  • Carry out sub-contractor pre-mobilization audit and inspection
  • Development, Review and Implementation of Company’s SHE Standards, Guidelines, Procedures, Work Instructions and Action Plans to ensure compliance with National and International regulations and Standards
  • Communicate and coordinate guidelines for company safety awareness, recognition and incentive program.
  • Coordinates Critical Safety Behavior Enhancement program on site.
  • Implementation of Specification for contractors SHE requirement, assessment of contractors SHE Management System with the objective of assuring management on the suitability of contractors SHE Management System
  • Actively facilitate regular safety inspection, Induction, and TBT.
  • Advise and participate in investigation and follow-up of incidents/accident, including development of remedial action plans.
  • Facilitate/encourage heightened SHE awareness and behavior throughout the project.
  • Shutdown and construction Tie - in monitoring.
  • Liaise with other organizations for the purpose of upgrading and updating the company SHE Management System Improvement strategy and techniques
  • Liaison with Project SHE Managers and Supervisors to cascade Company SHE Management implementation to the last line of personnel
  • Facilitate resolution of safety issues in a manner that promote proactivity and stimulate compliance and prevent recurrence.
  • Organize project performance monitoring using leading indicator device.
  • Conduct daily/weekly management walkthroughs, daily, weekly and monthly safety progress report, PPE compliance checks and Malaria verification for expats.
  • Review and approve work procedures and job safety analysis/permit verification.
  • Organize and participates in weekly/monthly safety meetings.
  • Ensure that the facility’s SHE tracking program is up to date and items are closed timely.
  • Ensure all construction / operational activities on the platform / barge are carried out in a safe manner and in adherence to the Company’s Safety Policies, Statutory Regulations and Guidelines.
  • Provide first line safety coverage for operational / construction activities performed offshore, fabrication yard and material site.
  • Ensure all operational / construction safety activities and equipment are in place, fully operational and correctly serviced.
  • Provide advice to the project contractor safety personnel and general workforce on safe practices and safe operating procedures and systems.
  • Liaise with SHE teams to ensure effective use of industry best practices and consistency in EMDC’s approach to SHE&S.
  • Participates in the assessment of SHE personnel competence and recommendation of trainings to bridge identified gaps

Engineering, also possess a PGD in Management and certifications like NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, OHSAS 18001-Lead Auditor, Professional Trainer Cert from CIEH (Chattered Institute of Environmental Health -UK), I have been working in the oil and gas industry for 8years now where I progressed from a safety coordinator to an Advisor, overseeing project from start to completion on safety matters and meeting management expectation of Nobody Getting Hurt, safe plant and equipment and environment.
