My responsibilities have included managing a family placement fostering service for a National Children charity in London, recruitment and supervision of social workers, Making fostering placements of children and young people in line with national childcare legislation and national minimum Standards. Providing family placements that aim to safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable children and their families. It also entailed keeping abreast with developments in the childcare legislation in England and Wales especially national frameworks on safeguarding and the "Every Child Matters" outcome framework in compliance with the United Nation's Convention on the Rights of the Child as well as National Guidance and Regulations. It also included setting up and managing an alternative to prison service for young people who offend under the Youth Justice Board's Pilot scheme. Other areas of responsibilities included staff and foster carers' training; establishing effective networks and professional partnerships in order to provide services that lead to better outcomes for children and their families, in addition to forming networks with community organisations and statutory services in London and the South East.
It also involved managing the project budget and ensuring that the service complied with the level service agreement and value for money for our commissioners.
