There are lots of things that are out of your control including plain old chemistry. But don’t sabotage your chances of landing a job with things you can control. Here are some interview tips on to handle the worst mistakes you can make in an interview.
Not Knowing Why Are You Applying For This Job
If your job-searching process is already long and exhausting it's easy to become a victim of this routine and apply automaticly to every job that fits you. Ofcourse, when your resume is polished relevant you will most likely get an unterview, but will you get an offer?
When you are going for an interview or applying for a job you need to give the interview compelling reasons for giving you the job and that starts with the basic question: Why do you want it? Why are you - a perfect candidate? You will put yourself at a disadvantage before you even walk into an interviewer’s office if you fail to prepare for the discussion in advance.
We will never get tired to repeat that researching is a must.
Background information including company history, locations, divisions, and a mission statement are available in an "About Us" section on most company websites. Review it ahead of time, then print it out and read it over just before your interview to refresh your memory. Also check the company's LinkedIn page and Facebook page, if they have one. Think about what you like about this job and why you want it.
Lack Of Enthusiasm
In a tightly run job race, when the two top candidates have equal qualifications, the job offer will always go to the most intelligently enthusiastic candidate. The problem for most of us is that interviews are stressful events, and under stress our defenses go up and any natural enthusiasm for our work is buried in a wall of stiff professionalism. This can get in the way of winning job offers.

You must show energy and enthusiasm if you want to be seriously considered for any opportunity. If a company doesn't see your desire or enthusiasm for a position during an interview, you will likely be disqualified from consideration for the position.
Badmouthing Past Employers
Don't make the mistake of badmouthing your boss or coworkers. It's sometimes a smaller world than you think and you don't know who your interviewer might know, including that boss who is an idiot... You also don't want the interviewer to think that you might speak that way about his or her company if you leave on terms that aren't the best.
When interviewing for a job, you want your employer to know that you can work well with other people and handle conflicts in a mature and effective way, rather than badmouthing your coworkers or talking about other people's incompetence.
Not Establishing Common Ground
Staring at the wall during an interview is not the best strategy to get the job, I must say. Even if you're a shy person or an introvert, you still should consider that the way you connect to an interviewer may play an important role in whether or not you get the job-offer.

Being good at small talk isn’t something everyone is automatically good at, but it’s really important for getting people to like you. Develop a genuine interest in people–this is a skill that will never fail you your entire life. Be a good listener, support the conversation instead of just sitting there, staring blankly at your interviewer and waiting for them to pounce on you with the first question.
Being Desperate or Pushy
Sometimes you want the job so badly that it’s hard to keep your calm and maintain perspective. But being too desperate or eager will only poison your chances. People like to work with others who are confident and easy-going, not pushy and inconsiderate.
The best way to avoid interview anxiety is by not getting ahead of yourself and envisioning how happy you’ll be in the position. Stay in the present and focus on the best ways in which you can contribute to the job. Be enthusiastic and positive about your desire for the job, but don’t become a pest.
