Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro - a footballer who is ranked as the best player in the world and the greatest football player of all times was once a little boy with a big dream.
Little Boy With A Big Dream
He was born in Madeira, Portugal, to Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro and the late José Dinis Aveiro. Cristiano’s second name ”Ronaldo” is uncommon in Portugal. His parents named him after former US President Ronald Reagan because his father respected the man much. Ronaldo's family was quite poor and the star described his childhood as being one deprived from luxuries.
Cristiano has three older siblings - two sister and one brother. Ronaldo's mother always said that the boy was talented ans encouraged him to chase his dream to be a football player.
At age eight, Ronaldo played for amateur team Andorinha, where his father was the kit man. In 1995, Ronaldo signed with local club Nacional, and, after a title-winning campaign, he went on a three-day trial with Sporting CP, who subsequently signed him for an undisclosed sum.
Many years after, in an interview Ronaldo said that he ows hia success to his old friend Albert Fantrau: "We played together for the same team in the U-18 championship. When a scout came to see us he said that “Whoever scores more goals will come into our academy. We won that match 3-0. I scored the first goal then Albert scored the second with a great header. But the third goal was impressive for all of us. Albert was one-on-one against the goalkeeper, he rounded the goalkeeper and I was running in front of him. “All he had to do was to score that goal but he passed it to me and I scored the third goal, so I got that spot and went to the academy. “After the match I went to him and asked him why? Albert said that “Because you (Ronaldo) are better than me.” Albert confirmed that the story was true, and that his football career actually ended at that moment. But now, although he is unemployed, he lives in a gorgeous house and drives a luxurious car which he received from Ronaldo.
When Christiano was 15 there was a risk he couldn't play football and we would never know such an amazing talented player and so many beautiful goals he scored.
