This is not one of those posts in which you can read that everything you ever wanted can be achieved by just "believing".
This is the post which will tell you how to actually invest in yourself to become a person you've always wanted and to accomplish everything you've ever dreamt of.
What can you do today to become a better person, a better businessman, a better developer/writer/creative tommorrow? What should you do to live a truly awesome life?
It takes only 4 steps, that are so simple you'll be surprised. Although, this is a guide, a system that should be followed everyday.
How many people you know that are spending their life without any direction? Those people who just go with the stream and slowly become a person their life has made them and accept it. We're not saying this is bad, it's just not the only possible way. It's a matter of a choice: do you choose to let your life make you or do you choose to create a person you want to be and life you want to live by yourself?
If your choice is the second one and you are willing to give this guide a try, here is what you'll need:
- A notebook or an app to take notes
- A spreadsheet app (Airtable, Google Sheets etc.)
- A calendar /calendar app
- A browser to do research
Step #1 - Write Your 100 List
Write down a list of 100 things that you're going to do in your life. It shouldn't be a list of things you dream of doing or a bucket list. No, it should be a list of things you're planning to do. You're GOING to do.
Take your time and think about all things you've wanted to accomplish or experience.
Maybe you've always wanted to write a novel, develop an app, learn how to play guitar or create a non-profit organization.
If you will accomplish 4 of those things per year, you will finish working through your list in 25 years. You will accomplish everything you wanted in life, you'd have a life you were proud of.
25 years is a long time, but you need to understand that the goal is not to finish your list as soon as possible. The goal is to create a clear, defined direction of your life.
After you finish your list, divide it into 3 categories:
- Things that I need skills for
- Things that I can do immediately
- Things that I need time for
Now, live with it for 2 weeks. Keep it with you, edit it, add something, cut the other thing. By these two weeks this list should become a real reflection of who you are, who you want to be and what you want from life. Ask your spouse or a friend to read it.
When you are happy with your list - jump onto the second step.
